With milder temperatures, fun slushy snow, sun-drenched patio dining, and still plenty of snow falling from the skies well into April and May, spring is an excellent time to visit Big Sky, Montana. It's also an optimal time to experience the area's many outdoor activities.
The days are getting warmer, brighter, and longer. Spring is just around the corner. With milder temperatures, fun slushy snow, sun-drenched patio dining, and still plenty of snow falling from the skies well into April and May, spring is an excellent time to visit Big Sky, Montana. It’s also an optimal time to experience the area’s many outdoor activities.
Here are a few of our favorites:
With two stripes of ziplining experiences and warmer weather, spring is an excellent time to zoom among the Gallatin Mountain treetops.
Ride up then zip down on Big Sky Resort's Adventure Zipline Tour which is designed for speed. Swoop your way down the mountain on four adrenaline-pumping lines spanning up to 1500 feet long and 150ft above the forest floor, including a Twin Zipline where you can race your fellow adventure zippers.
The family-friendly Nature Zip begins with a 15-minute hike up Moose Tracks trail. The tour consists of four zip lines ranging from 275' to 490' in length and 30 to 50 feet in the air. The lines crisscross Moose Tracks Gully and finish toward the bottom of Moose Tracks. Be sure to wear or bring layers and wear close-toed shoes.
Whether you want to enjoy the beauty of Gallatin National Forest and on Buck Creek Ridge or see Yellowstone National Park on your mechanical steed, snowmobiling is the perfect springtime activity.
Yellowstone re-opened to visitors this past winter, but the number of daily trips into the park is still limited by the Park Service. That said, spring may be one of the best times of year to see the world-famous Yellowstone wildlife as they come alive in the warmer temperatures and longer days.
